Bio

Shane R. Kannarr is an optometrist with extensive training in primary eye care for the entire family. Dr. Kannarr’s areas of special interest include contact lenses, including bifocal, treatment of ocular disease and low vision. Dr. Kannarr has served as principal investigator in multiple contact lens and contact lens solution studies. He has also lectured at the local, regional and national levels on the topic of contact lenses and diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Dr. Kannarr grew up in Humboldt, Kansas. He attended Pittsburg State University and received a degree in education. After a brief teaching career he attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry. Dr. Kannarr has been very involved in Optometry, serving as a trustee for the Missouri Optometric Association, Chairman of the UM-St. Louis Alumni Board of Directors and as Chairman and Member of numerous committees. Dr. Kannarr practiced in Missouri prior to joining Grene Vision Group in February 2006.

“Optometry provides me the ability to care for patients of all ages,” Dr. Kannarr said. “In the course of a day I might treat an eye infection in a 2-year-old and provide low vision aids to a 90-year-old glaucoma patient. The diversity allows me to care for the whole community, and I hope to improve the lives of a wide variety of people.”
