Dr. Suzanne Buchanan, OD, is an optometrist specializing in primary care optometry. After earning an undergraduate degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas, Dr. Buchanan attended the University of Houston to obtain her doctorate in optometry. Externships at the Albuquerque VA Hospital and the Crownpoint Navajo Indian Health Hospital were invaluable to her practical application of optometry. She then completed a one-year residency program in family optometry at Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, OK.
Dr. Buchanan sees patients ages three and older for routine eye examinations, diabetic exams, contact lens fittings, and co-management after eye surgery. Our optometrists also see patients with ocular disease or trauma. If a patient's ocular needs require a specialist, there is a Grene Vision Group ophthalmologist in each subspecialty which to seamlessly refer for appropriate care. Dr. Buchanan's goal is to provide excellent eye care efficiently and in a kind, friendly manner to all patients.
Dr. Buchanan and her husband have four children and four grandchildren. They also stay involved at their church in various capacities. Her husband is a nostalgia dragster racer, and Dr. Buchanan loves to read historical fiction and is learning to play the drums.
