Anita Campbell, MD, received a full scholarship to the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. With medicine in mind, she created her own major in Bioinformatics, which uses computer programming for biological studies. While interning with the Cerner Corporation, an electronic medical record company, she was able to advance this new technology and apply her knowledge to various hospitals and clinics as a physician clinical assistant.
After graduating with her double major in Computer Science and Bioinformatics, Dr. Campbell returned home and attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Choosing ophthalmology as her medical specialty, she remained at KU to complete her residency. Dr. Campbell completed her education with fellowship training in glaucoma at The Ohio State University. Dr. Campbell, a board-certified ophthalmologist, specializes in adult glaucoma, including medical and surgical aspects (laser trabeculoplasty, trabeculectomy, tube shunt and minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery) as well as cataract and implant surgery.
“I have chosen a specialty in glaucoma because I appreciate the continuity of care that gives me the privilege to build relationships with my patients. This relationship extends from meeting patients for the first time through diagnosing their condition and guiding them through what can sometimes be a lengthy and challenging treatment process. No one solution fits all patients, and choices of surgical procedures and personalization of care can be the most rewarding aspects, particularly when they improve the quality of my patients’ lives,” - Dr. Anita Campbell, MD
Dr. Campbell enjoys traveling and discovering new places and cultures throughout the world, as well as spending time with family and friends. While maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, she likes to run, swim, hike, play the violin and volunteer in her community. Dr. Campbell is joined by her husband and a daughter and they have enjoyed settling in Wichita while working in and serving the community. Dr. Campbell provides eye care in Wichita, KS to her patients at the Grene Vision Group Hutchinson East and Maize Road locations.
